Thailand abolishes tourist tax

The planned tourist tax in Thailand, which was planned for all airline passengers, will be dropped. The reason given is that this will further stimulate tourism.

The tourism fee was originally decided by the last government in 2023 and was supposed to cost 300 baht (about 7.60 euros) per entry. The decision to abolish the planned fee was announced by Thailand's Prime Minister Srettha Thavis. The fee met with great resistance from the start, especially from the tourism and private sectors.
