Namibia introduces visa requirement

Visa requirement Namibia

The Namibian government has decided to impose visa requirements for 31 countries. This is mainly due to the fact that these countries, which previously received preferential treatment, have not reciprocated the entry requirements for Namibian citizens.

The visa requirement will therefore be introduced for 31 countries, including Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Denmark, Belgium, Italy, the USA and Canada. The exact date of introduction will be announced shortly.

“The implementation of the visa requirements is evidence of the government’s determination to ensure that the interests and rights of Namibian citizens are respected and protected on the global stage,” Margaret Kalo, Chief Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, told the Windhoek Observer newspaper .

There are currently no plans for an e-visa, which is likely to significantly increase waiting times at Windhoek and Walvis Bay International Airports as well as at the country's borders.
